...and there´s gold falling from the ceiling of this world

On Friday morning my family and i headed off to Melbourne, it rained most of the way there, but when we arrived the sun decided to shine through the clouds. We stayed in the most gorgeous, old fashioned motel in this little lane way. The first thing you notice is all the plants and the vines that surrounded this lovely building. When we entered there was a big staircase with paintings on the walls. Our room was just as nice, it had old wooden dressers, and a window that looked out into the garden. It was the nicest accommodation I've ever stayed in. The reason we were visiting Melbourne was to see the incredible, amazing, wonderful, beautiful, Angus and Julia stone preform at the palais theatre. Once Jacqui and i got all prettied up we made our way to st kilda where we had dinner and then lined up at the theatre (first ones there of course!) We bought some merch before going inside. When you walk inside the theatre its beauty and size is almost overwhelming, i could only imagine how special Angus and Julia would feel to be preforming in such a spectacular venue. I was quite surprised by how little people came for the special guest performers. There was hardly anyone there to see the special guests, and the ones that were there, talked and were disrespectful. What shocked me even more was that so many people came late while Angus and Julia were already performing! I wanted to kill the people who got seats in the front rows who turned up late, they didn't deserve those seats, or to even see them. I would of loved to be in the front rows (i thought i would of since i got my tickets in the first minute of them going on sale) but i still feel honored to have been in the same room as them again. The show was incredible, it started off with them coming on stage, in front of the closed curtain and sung three songs, on the fourth song which was 'mango tree' they played the intro of the song and then the curtain came up and revealed this amazing set full of fairy lights and this big willow tree. Julia started dancing and Angus began to sing and my eyes filled with tears as my favourite musicians began what was one of the best nights of my life.
When it was over i went and hassled the tech guys for a set list, i got it :D but unfortunately couldn't get it signed.
The next morning we had the yummiest breakfast at the motel, almost everything was homemade.. all the yogurts, jam, orange juice etc. It was so good, i ate a four course breakfast haha. After we stuffed our belly's full of delicious food we drove into the city to federation square where the Tim Burton exhibition was being held. This was the best exhibition i have ever seen, better than Picasso, better than Salvador Dali, better than Rennie Ellis, and any other exhibition I've been to. This one takes the cake. It was more about his drawing and his art than the movies he has directed. Yes there were a few costumes and such from the movies he has directed, but most of the walls were filled with his quirky and dark drawings. I loved seeing his old art books from when he was in high school, and the kids books he illustrated and wrote when he was a teenager, and all the letters he sent to Disney and other publishers. It was really packed, and i felt greedy, but i spent the time to read all the plaques and all the written things they had on display. I wish photography was allowed, i would of loved to take photos, but they had security guards around every corner to make sure no one took photos :( I was a little disappointed that there wasn't much on 'Big fish', one of his movies, which is a favourite of mine, but all in all, it was a really great exhibition to see.
The rest of the day in Melbourne was spent in 'Tree of life', one of my favourite shops. Jacqui and i were in there for over an hour, maybe even two! The people that worked there were so friendly! One of the girls pointed out this dress that i never would of picked up myself, but she promised me it would look good on me, so i tried it on and i loved it. I ended up buying the dress, some earrings, and a henna pack. I've always loved the look of henna, since i see it all the time on the Indian girls at the Indian restaurant i regularly go to. The pack came with patterns and ink, i cant wait to try it out :) Anyway, i could talk forever, but you've probably already lost interest, so here are some photos. :)
